Key tax dates
Common lodgment and payment dates for individuals and small businesses. Your own dates may be different. They depend on your circumstances and whether you use a registered tax agent, who can often get you extra time.
| Date | What's due |
|---|---|
| 21st of each month | Monthly BAS for the previous month (for example, the September 2026 BAS is due 21 October 2026) |
| 28 October 2026 | Quarter 1 BAS (July–September 2026) |
| 31 October 2026 | Individual tax returns due if you lodge yourself. If you use a registered tax agent, you need to be on their client list by this date to access the agent lodgment program |
| 28 February 2027 | Quarter 2 BAS (October–December 2026). No further extension applies to this quarter |
| 28 April 2027 | Quarter 3 BAS (January–March 2027) |
| 15 May 2027 | Final lodgment date under the registered agent lodgment program for 2026 tax returns not required to be lodged earlier |
| 30 June 2027 | End of the 2026–27 financial year. Trustee distribution resolutions are generally needed by this date |
| 28 July 2027 | Quarter 4 BAS (April–June 2027) |
If you lodge your quarterly BAS online you may get an extra 2 weeks to lodge and pay, except for quarter 2. Source: ATO – due dates for lodging and paying your BAS.
