BAS & GST

Business activity statements (BAS) and GST

We prepare and lodge your BAS, IAS and annual GST returns accurately and on time, and help arrange a payment plan with the ATO if you need one.

Your BAS obligations

If your business is registered for GST you'll need to lodge a business activity statement — usually quarterly, sometimes monthly. A quarterly BAS is generally due on the 28th day of the month after the quarter ends (the December quarter is due on 28 February). Monthly BAS is generally due on the 21st of the following month.

You need to lodge and pay by the due date or enter a payment arrangement with the ATO. You can lodge yourself through the ATO's online services — or let us handle it.

Why use a registered tax agent?

  • More time — registered agents can often access extended lodgment dates for clients who lodge electronically.
  • Accuracy — we check GST coding, PAYG withholding and instalments so you don't over- or under-pay.
  • Payment plans — if you can't pay in full, we can arrange a payment plan with the ATO on your behalf.

What we lodge

  • Quarterly and monthly business activity statements (BAS)
  • Instalment activity statements (IAS)
  • Annual GST returns
  • PAYG withholding and PAYG instalments
  • Fuel tax credits and other BAS items

Pair BAS with our bookkeeping service and we'll keep your books reconciled every quarter so lodgment is quick and accurate.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is my quarterly BAS due?
Generally on the 28th day of the month after the end of the quarter: 28 October, 28 February (December quarter), 28 April and 28 July. Clients of registered tax agents who lodge electronically may be eligible for extra time.
Do I need to register for GST?
You must register for GST when your business has a GST turnover of $75,000 or more ($150,000 for not-for-profits). Taxi and ride-sourcing drivers must register regardless of turnover. You can choose to register below the threshold.
What if I can't pay my BAS?
Lodge on time anyway — penalties for late lodgment are separate from the debt. We can then arrange a payment plan with the ATO on your behalf.
